Preview. Needs some tweaking

The vocals were very good, in fact much better than I expected. The leads blew me away with their strong voices. While the ensemble was vocally strong, the direction and blocking was weak and reminded me of a community theater performance. Perhaps because the set was so scaled back for the venue, they didn't seem to know what to do with themselves and looked awkward especially at the barricades (the climbing up and down and the crowded staging) The suicide scene with Javert was dynamic but ruined by the spot on him which pulled focus to the wires being attached to him. I would recommend they revisit the lighting on him for this pivotal scene. Perhaps replace the spot with a smoky gel and fog. I hope this will all be fixed. Tix are full price-no deals as of yet. I'd like to see another performance in a couple months. After the fabulous Young Frankenstein, this was a disappointment
